About "Letters from the Heart"

I had originally written this story as a result of some role-playing I did with a friend of mine.  I wanted to do something for our two characters named Lucien and Celesta.  The interaction between our two characters prompted me to write a story about them.  I quickly became obsessed with their store and the characters.  I immersed myself in my work.  Even as I finished writing it, I wasn't satisfied.  The story was disjoined and a little incoherent.  So, I analyzed the story, picked it up again, and rewrote it, making the story mine.

The love between them was almost like one of those Shakespearean plays or one of those novels by the Bronte sisters.  Their love was a very private thing.  Not many truly knew what happened between the two of them in the story.  The love they shared was as plain as daylight, but still no one seemed to have noticed.  Everyone, save one person, seemed to have underestimated the overly formal, shy, easily embarrassed gentleman from a distant land that had become a knight.

I hope I have given the characters more depth and done the characters justice in my presentation of them.  I truly hop you enjoy the story.

The Players

~Lucien Roan, Knight-Errant of the Knights of Noctura~
A young man from a far distant land that has journeyed out to Camille after claiming that he was disinherited from his family and discharged from the military in his homeland after losing his title.  He was helped by Neria, one of the first few people that he had met, to settle down in Camille.  He became a Knight of Noctura with the help of Sir Edgar, whom he would like to think of as a friend, but has never fully felt comfortable around.

He is a very honorable man and always strives to better himself and do the honorable thing.  There seems to be an inner strength to him that will get him far in life and he's very dedicated to his duty and what he sets his mind to.  He always tries to be a gentleman and, oddly enough, always turns down a friendly dual.

~Lady Celesta of the House of Ranporr~
One of the most beautiful and desired women in all of Camille and a daughter of a deceased Knight of Noctura that Lord Bruce knew personally.  Many men via for her attention, but the most notable ones are Sir Roarke and Sir Edgar.  She harbors a deep affection for Lucien and considers him a close friend, thus making him the object of many men's jealousies.
For whatever reason, Celesta always keeps Roarke and Edgar at a distance and always turns all other suitors away.

She is sweet and a bit indecisive, but means well.  Demur and polite, she is a lady through and through. She has a sharp wit and oft times a sharp tongue. She always has peoples' best interests at heart.

~Sir Edgar, Knight of the Realm of the Knights of Noctura~
A gentleman and Knight of Noctura that desires to court Lady Celesta.  He was the one who recruited Lucien into the Knights of Noctura and has a strong loathing for Sir Roarke, whom he considers incompetent.  he is a man of few words and does everything deliberately and with care; however, he appears to be rather possessive of what he considers his.

~Sir Roarke, Black Knight of the Realm of Noctura~
Another gentleman and Black Knight of the realm of Noctura who also wishes to court Lady Celesta.  His enmity with Edgar is not only from competitions in the arena, but also for personal reasons.  He lusts after Celesta with an unhealthy obsession and only considers Edgar his biggest rival for Celesta.

~Lord Bruce, Knight Grandmaster of the Knights of Noctura~
Commander and leader of the Knights of Noctura and direct descendant of its found.  He is a very wise man and looks upon Lucien rather favorably after Lucien revealed the real reason why he had come to Noctura and had joined the knighthood.  He sees great potential in Lucien, more so than he sees in Sir Edgar.  He hopes that one day Lucien will have more confidence in himself and become a leader of men.

~King Draconis, Ruler of the Kingdom of Noctura~
He, too, knows of Lucien's past and the reason why he is here.  He gives Lord Bruce permission to allow Lucien into the ranks of the Knights of Noctura.  He is thought to have others plans for the young knight, but not even Lord Bruce is privy to those thoughts.

~Neria~
A lady that Lucien had become acquainted with and had helped him when Lucien had first arrived in Camille.  She sees him as a very dear friend who's antiquated sense of chivalry as very charming and endearing.

~Analya~
A bard and friend of both Lucien and Celesta's.  She hears and sees all but never divulges any of her secrets.

~Sir Matteo, Knight-Errant of the Nights of Noctura~
A newly inducted knight into the ranks of the Knights of Noctura.  Lucien meets him after Celesta introduces them to one another.
