For the longest time,
I wanted to be a knight
I'm not entirely sure why
I just wanted to be one
I suppose it's because
I always held them in the highest regard
Glorified them, even
They were upholders of the law
And the ideals of the king
They were chivalrous, honor-bound
And valorous in battle
When I discovered the truth
I was disappointed
What happened to my beloved knights?
Whatever happened to the
Codes of Honor, Chivalry, and Valor?
Why were so many led astray?
I didn't want the one thing
That I loved so dearly,
The true ideal and purpose
Of a knight,
Ruined forever
If we didn't have knights
To believe in that would save us,
Standfast when we were in trouble,
Defend us when things were going wrong,
We wouldn't have heroes.
That's why
When I was little,
I decided that I was going to be
A knight.
